Flattop for MBob (revisit)

We've been unsuccessful if finding an oil tank (that we like) for a flat seat swinger frame. Ridged,no problem, drop seat the short quart model is nice, anything that follows the frame line of the flat seat is pretty ugly & bulky looking.
This tank above is the short quart with an added piece of pie to meet the seat rails. The mod wasn't a huge deal but I was blown away at what a piece of shit the brand new tank that I cut into was.
It is so crooked & poorly made in every way possible, I can't believe anyone would ever feel good about selling something like this?
American made at it's finest,  straight out of Carson City.

Rnd.2 JT Racing CalVMX Series 2012

Yesterday was our first time racing any sort of vintage MX club event and I have to say the CAL VMX crew has a good thing going.
Although the atmosphere was real laid back the program was dialed, motos went like clockwork the track was pretty good, there was a great lunch, the caliber of bikes was amazing and most of all everyone was super friendly we felt like we fit in right away.
We'll be back next month.

CALVMX @ Glen Helen Raceway & My Damn RM125

Ok after getting a legit race race under my belt I'm completely convinced there's something seriously up with this bike?  Every other 125 out there no matter what age, color or how clapped out was pulling me on every uphill by a lot. If there was a jump right out of a turn, forget about it...
It seems to run well but it seriously feels like there's an 80cc motor in a 125 frame?
The first moto I was riding so far over my head just trying to make it go that I ended up laying at the bottom of a downhill dizzy with some bruised ribs and a sore ego. 2nd moto I just rode the best I could with the damn thing.
I have no idea but I'm in need of a local So-Cal air cooled 2stroke guru.
Anyone?

In Love.

In a beer induced haze I had forgotten the plague Jeremiah had made up for The Love Cycles 3 year. I was really bummed as these things mean a lot to me.
Fortunately Jeremiah had it stashed & shipped it over with a ton of badass goodies.
Thanks My Friend.

Race Weekend.

The 2nd race of the  JT Racing Calvmx/AHRMA-SW Series is Sunday & I think I'm healed enough to make my way around the track & since I had to miss round1 hopefully make up some points.

Taking The Dream Seriously.

Having been to a few of these co-op type shops now I have a ton of good ideas for something similar.
Location, Location?
PHX, NYC, Austin?

VMX Kicker-Pipe

This afternoon I got my cone pipe bolted up and somewhat tuned but what I was really stoked on is the retro fitting of a 2005 shorty kicker arm.
After a couple trips to the local cycle salvage I figured out that a mid 90's pivot knuckle & the 05 arm would work on the 1980 kick shaft, all I had to do was drill a hole and clean it up, Voila no more super long cast steel unit.
This pig is getting faster one ounce at a time.

Mini Dads

My brother in law was just telling me how he's is completely getting into building my nephew a new badass mini.
Although the drill has been replaced by monocoque technology & carbon fiber It's good to hear the tradition/addiction is still going strong.
